Le secteur montréalais de la restauration tient à faire sa part et il en prend les moyens. Une vingtaine de restaurants ont en effet lancé l'initiative Nouveaux voisins, qui vise à faciliter l'intégration de nos « nouveaux voisins » par le biais d'un appui à l'organisme communautaire Réseau d'intervention auprès des victimes de violence organisée (RIVO). RIVO sera présent à la base de soutien de Val-Cartier où il accueillera les réfugiés syriens et prodiguera des services de santé mentale à ceux qui ont été traumatisés, de même que de l'aide et des conseils au personnel. Nouveaux voisins placera aussi des boîtes de dons à l'intention des réfugiés dans une vingtaine de restaurants membres, et ce pendant les mois de décembre et de janvier. L'organisme propose de plus un événement caritatif le 16 décembre au Turbo Haüs (5011, Notre-Dame Ouest). La totalité des recettes de ce spectacle, qui mettra en vedette Beat Cops et John Jacob Magistery, sera versée à RIVO. Nous remercions à l'avance les musiciens qui participeront au spectacle à titre bénévole, les citoyens montréalais qui s'y rendront, de même que tous les généreux bienfaiteurs qui placeront des dons dans les boîtes à cet effet. 'Nouveau Voisins.' is an initiative by the Montreal restaurant community to do our part for a cause we feel very strongly about. Food and restaurants have become increasingly popular over the past few years and taking advantage of that spotlight for a good cause is an excellent way to leverage our position for the wellbeing of others. 


RIVO is a wonderful organization working to address the much-underplayed but very important issue of the mental health of arriving refugees. RIVO will be assisting at the Val-Cartier Support Base, advising personnel with the hope of facilitating the integration of our "Nouveau Voisins". They work with people who have been traumatized by some form of organized violence, political violence, state torture, war, civil war, genocide. 

Donation boxes will be placed at upwards of 20 Montreal restaurants to further collect from donors. Our friends have graciously agreed to push this charitable action through the month of December until we collect the boxes at the end of January. Participating restaurants have generously donated as a sign of support & participation. 

We will also be hosting a charity event on December 16th 20h at Turbo Haüs (5011 Notre Dame Ouest) of which 100% of the proceeds will be donated to RIVO. Beat Cops and John Jacob Magistery, two wonderful Montreal bands, have agreed to play pro bono for which we are extremely grateful.
