He has been on the rise in recent years, and has studied under the mentorship of esteemed Canadian songwriters such as Ariane Moffatt and Ada Lea. In 2024, Milnes brought his roots-driven sound to the CityFolk Festival in Ottawa, opening for Canadian icon Fred Eaglesmith, putting on a show that was hailed by local news such as the CBC. Jacob is known for his guitar playing, unique voice, and powerful songwriting. He is dedicated to a musical tradition which values poetic lyrics and honky tonk guitars.
Spank Williams is a country band from Vancouver, which takes as much from Hank Williams as they do from Tom Waits. The band has been cutting their teeth playing the bar and underground circuit of Vancouver BC for the past several years.
